BIOGRAPHY

Piotr Anderszewski is considered one of the outstanding musicians of his generation. He performs regularly in concert halls such as the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Berlin Philharmonie, Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. His collaborations with orchestras have included performances with the Berlin Philharmonic and the Berlin Staatskapelle, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra, and the NHK Symphony Orchestra. He also places a special emphasis on playing and conducting, and has worked with orchestras such as the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, and the Camerata Salzburg.
Piotr Anderszewski has been an exclusive artist with Warner Classics/Erato (formerly Virgin Classics) since 2000. His first recording for the label was Beethoven's Diabelli Variations, which won several awards. He has also recorded Grammy-nominated CDs of Bach's Partitas 1, 3 and 6 and Szymanowski's solo piano works, the latter of which also won a Gramophone Award in 2006. His recording of works by Robert Schumann won BBC Music Magazine's Recording of the Year award in 2012, and Anderszewski's CD of Bach's English Suites won both a Gramophone Award and an ECHO Klassik in 2015.
Known for the intensity and originality of his interpretations, Piotr Anderszewski has received the Gilmore Award, the Szymanowski Prize, and a Royal Philharmonic Society Award. There are several documentaries about him and his work. For example, filmmaker Bruno Monsaingeon explores his special relationship with Beethoven's iconic work in "Piotr Anderszewski Plays Diabelli Variations" (2001). "Unquiet Traveller" (2008) is an unusual portrait of the artist that captures Anderszewski's reflections on music, performance and his Polish-Hungarian roots.
In 2016, Anderszewski put himself behind the camera to explore his relationship with his native Warsaw, making a film titled "Je m'appelle Varsovie."
In the 2023-2024 season, Piotr Anderszewski can be heard in recitals in Cologne, Berlin, Hamburg, London, Prague, Paris, Tokyo and at the Gilmore Festival Kalamazoo in the United States. His orchestral appearances include the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana. He will also perform with the Sinfonia Varsovia, conducting at the piano.
